The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries plans to conduct intensive inspections after a two-week guidance period led by maritime safety supervisors. On August 29, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries held a meeting with related agencies including local governments, the Coast Guard, the Korea Maritime Safety Tribunal, and the Central Fisheries Cooperative Association at the Government Complex Sejong to prevent fishing vessel accidents and minimize casualties. The meeting discussed safety management measures to prevent fatalities and disappearances on solo fishing vessels, plans for promoting and enforcing the mandatory wearing of life jackets, rapid distribution of inflatable life jackets to all fishermen, and autumn fishing vessel accidents.
