In October, Norway exported 109 tons of king crab, valued at 77 million Norwegian kroner (approximately 6.93 million USD). Compared to October last year, the value decreased by 2 million Norwegian kroner (approximately 180,000 USD), a drop of 2%, while the export volume decreased by 21%. The largest export markets were the United States, Italy, and Canada.
Although frozen king crab exports showed strong growth in September, the export volume slightly decreased in October.
The export volume of king crab to the United States in October was 82 tons, a decrease of 3% compared to the same period last year, mainly due to the reduction in live crab exports. Currently, some frozen and live king crabs have been shipped to European markets in preparation for the Christmas holiday.
In October, Norway exported 61 tons of snow crab, valued at 12 million Norwegian kroner (approximately 1.08 million USD), with an export value of 11 million Norwegian kroner (approximately 990,000 USD). The export volume increased by 615% year-on-year, and the export value increased by 942% year-on-year. The main export markets were Canada, Vietnam, and Japan.
In October, Norway exported 2,620 tons of frozen shrimp, valued at 158 million Norwegian kroner (approximately 14.22 million USD), a decrease of 14% year-on-year. The export volume decreased by 31% year-on-year, with the main export markets being Iceland, China, and Denmark.
The largest reduction was in frozen cooked shelled shrimp, especially exports to Denmark and Morocco.
China's demand for frozen cooked shelled shrimp and raw frozen edible shrimp continued to grow. Compared to October last year, Norway's export volume increased by 43%, and the export value increased by 105%.
