Kayseri, a city in Turkey, is exporting strawberry seedlings to six countries, including Ethiopia, making it a significant contributor to the global strawberry industry. With a production history that has seen steady growth for the past 50 years, Turkey now ranks 5th in worldwide strawberry production and 12th in exports. The favorable soil and climate conditions of Kayseri, specifically the Tuffy soils around Mount Erciyes, are ideal for strawberry seedling growth. In 2021, 25 million seedlings were produced, with an anticipated increase to 35 million in 2022. These seedlings find a high demand in both domestic and international markets, with exports expected to grow under the leadership of Mustafa Şahin, the Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry in Kayseri.
