A new technology has emerged to increase transparency in the production and distribution of seafood. The company Duresoft Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Byung-in), a supported company of the "Hope Return Package Project" by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Small and Medium Business Promotion Corporation, has introduced a technology that automatically attaches QR codes and labels to live seafood, allowing real-time verification of production and distribution information. Based in Changwon, Gyeongnam, Duresoft Co., Ltd. registered a related technology patent in 2021 and recently developed a prototype of a "throwing-type attachment device" utilizing fishing principles, entering the stage of empirical experiments. Unlike the previous manual method, which involved attaching barcodes to the tails of live seafood, potentially causing injury and risk of death, this system operates within the enclosure.
