The University of Florida conducted a study revealing the economic impact of the Florida citrus industry in the 2019-2020 season, showing it contributed $6.762 billion to the state's economy. This figure is an increase from the previous season and is largely attributed to the manufacturing of citrus juice and byproducts, which accounted for $4.741 billion. The industry also supported 33,381 jobs, leading to labor income contributions of $1.531 billion and state and local tax contributions of $140 million. Additionally, the study found that citrus juice shipped from Florida was valued at $2.731 billion and select byproducts at $59.45 million.
