Super Typhoon Regasa: impacts on maritime transport and risks for Peruvian fruit exports

Super Typhoon Ragasa, which hit the Philippines and southern China in September 2025, caused temporary closures in key ports such as Shenzhen, Nansha, and Shekou, in addition to restrictions in Hong Kong and Taiwan. These disruptions coincided with the Golden Week in China, generating regional port congestion that will extend for several weeks. For international maritime transport, Ragasa translates into port omissions, itinerary cancellations ("blank sailings"), and the accumulation of vessels at anchor. Intermodal services were also affected by limitations in container depots and restrictions on the reception of refrigerated cargo.
