Based on preliminary harvest results, Swedish farmers harvested just under 4.2 million tons of grain this year, which is 29% less than in 2022 and 21% lower than the five-year average. The decrease in production is attributed to unfavorable weather conditions, including early summer drought and late summer record rainfall. The current data is even lower than the initial forecast in August, with experts projecting a 47% decrease in the production of barley, oats, and spring wheat compared to last year. Additionally, oilseed cultivation experienced a significant decline, with rapeseed and turnip rape production down by 27% on an annual basis. More reliable results based on data from a larger sample of companies will be published on December 13.
