Japan has approved the export of Taiwan's farmed dragon and tabby groupers after eight years of negotiations, marking a significant shift from their previous reliance on the Chinese market. This approval, following rigorous testing for ciguatoxin, opens new opportunities for Taiwan to export high-end fishery products to Japan. Efforts are underway to breed, process, and develop grouper products specifically for the Japanese market, with the Fisheries Laboratory ensuring the safety and quality of the fish. The Ministry of Agriculture in Taiwan is promoting these exports, while the HACCP aquatic products processing plant is involved in cutting and packaging the groupers, supporting the sustainable development of the industry.
