Tequila production in Mexico saw a significant increase of 35.4% from January to April 2021, reaching a total of 159.8 million liters. The growth was primarily driven by the production of 100% agave tequila, which increased by 57.6% during the same period. Exports of tequila also saw a rise, with a 5.7% increase to 95 million liters. The United States continues to be the largest consumer of Mexican tequila, accounting for 87% of total exports. There has also been a record number of tequila brands registered, reaching a total of 1,796 in April.
