The Department of Fisheries in Thailand is collaborating with the Thai Feed Producers Association and other stakeholders to promote sustainable shrimp farming and build consumer confidence. The initiative focuses on environmentally friendly animal feed production, efficient water and energy management, and reducing waste. It also involves the development of a Vessel Monitoring System and participation in sustainable fisheries development projects. The goal is to achieve a green rating from the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch program and increase the status of Thai shrimp in the US. Thai shrimp exports, valued at 29,552 million baht in 2019, experienced a decrease of 17.6% in the first seven months of 2020.
