Thailand is strategizing to boost its fruit trade to enhance domestic consumption and increase fruit exports to new markets including the United States, Europe, and Canada, as stated by the Ministry of Domestic Trade. The country aims to export seedless fresh longan to these regions in addition to the existing main market, China. Despite the delayed harvest due to El Nino, Thailand's fruit production has seen a 3% increase from the previous year, reaching 6.98 million tons. Notable increases in production include durian, mangosteen, rambutan, and pineapple, with market prices for these fruits also rising. The ministry anticipates stable and higher fruit prices in 2024, signaling a promising future for Thai fruit farmers.
