Lavender production in Turkey has grown significantly, with the help of vineman Öztürk Sarıca, who established the Lisinia Nature Habitat in Burdur and created Turkey's largest lavender field in Akçaköy. The production area has expanded from 2-3 thousand decares to 20 thousand decares, and Turkey is now self-sufficient in lavender oil and sells it internationally. The country also grows 34 medicinal and aromatic plants, including lavender and roses, and expects to attract over 300,000 visitors this year. Sarıca believes that lavender production has the potential to generate a substantial contribution to the Turkish economy.
