A study by Eurostat reveals significant variations in the pricing of bread and grain across Europe in 2020, with Bulgaria and Romania experiencing the lowest prices, which were about two and a half times less expensive than in Denmark, the priciest country. The price index for bread and grain in Denmark was 153, compared to 56 in Romania and 67 in Bulgaria. Bulgaria also had the cheapest cigarettes in the EU, while Ireland had the most expensive tobacco products. The EU country with the lowest food prices was Romania, and the highest were in Denmark, with Turkey having the least expensive food and soft drinks in all of Europe.
