Morocco's almond farmers are facing potential production losses due to cold temperatures during the almond flowering season, which has been disrupted by heavy rains and snowfall. While these conditions are beneficial for cereal crops, they are harmful for almond trees, especially in mountainous regions. Almond trees make up 73% of Morocco's rosaceae area, covering over 200,000 hectares, with half grown from seed and the other half cultivated intensively or semi-intensively. The Ivarcona variety, which accounts for the majority of unshelled almonds produced in Morocco, is particularly vulnerable to these conditions.
