Trakya Birlik, a Turkish agricultural organization, has reported a 15 percent increase in sunflower cultivation areas in the country, aiming to meet 65-70 percent of the local sunflower oil demand. The organization emphasizes the importance of food security following the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the COVID-19 pandemic. With the support of agricultural organizations, municipalities, and Trakya Birlik, sunflower production in Turkey is expected to grow, given that sunflower is a plant suitable for various climates. Trakya Birlik is buying 311 thousand tons of products from farmers at a price that satisfies them, marking a increase of 32 thousand tons compared to the previous year.
