The estimate for the processing of sunflower seeds in Ukraine in the 2025/26 marketing year is decreasing, however, soybean and rapeseed duties continue to benefit the processor.

According to APK-Inform, sunflower processing in Ukraine in September was the lowest since July 2022, amounting to only about 560 thousand tons. Indeed, the limited supply of sunflower during the off-season contributed to many plants underloading their capacities with rapeseed or soybeans, the supply of which significantly increased in the domestic market after the introduction of the export duty on September 4. Moreover, due to the actual blocking of exports and the potential increase in the supply of soybeans and rapeseed within the country, many farmers rushed to sell sunflower, fearing a significant drop in its prices. This contributed to the fact that in parallel, plants were able to accumulate stocks of this oilseed for 1.5-2 months of operation, which was the main factor in the decline in raw material prices in September.
