The European Union has reinstated duties on Ukrainian oats as of June 19 due to exceeding established quotas, according to the European Commission. Ukrainian grain exports have surpassed the allowable volume for 2024, prompting the reintroduction of tariffs until the end of the year, with quotas reopening on January 1, 2025. The emergency braking procedure for oats is activated when import volumes hit the average annual level of 2440 tons, with a quota set at 4 thousand tons. Ukraine also exports oats to countries like India, Iraq, and Turkey. Additionally, the EU has decided to increase tariffs on Russian grain imports and may restore tariffs on other Ukrainian products if their import volumes significantly exceed those of 2022 and 2023.
