The European Commission authorizes vaccination against dermatosis in new regions of Catalonia and Aragon.

The European Commission (EC) has authorized Spain to extend the emergency vaccination plan against the contagious dermal nodule virus (CDN) to new regions of Catalonia and Aragon to prevent its spread, following the detection of 18 outbreaks in cattle farms in the province of Girona. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) informed of this authorization in a statement, emphasizing that this is a "reinforcement measure" and that the EC's permission is "an essential condition to apply the vaccine" in areas other than the outbreak zones. In Spain, the vaccination campaign against the CDN virus began last October 9 and was initially planned only for the restriction zone adopted in Catalonia in response to the first outbreaks.
