In an investigation led by the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) in Sofia, the Main Directorate "National Police" conducted searches and seizures this week as part of a case on alleged fraud with subsidies financed by European agricultural funds. The investigation concerns suspicions of submitting false or misleading data in applications for financial support under various European schemes for agricultural producers in the period 2023–2025. According to the collected evidence, a beneficiary company provided incorrect information to the Regional Directorate "Agriculture" in Burgas, with the alleged involvement of high-ranking officials responsible for certifying data in the systems of the Ministry of Agriculture. The searches were conducted at the Regional Directorate "Agriculture," at the office of the beneficiary company, as well as at the home of a high-ranking civil servant.
