Peru has seen a significant surge in the export of pitahaya, or dragon fruit, in 2023, with a thirteen-fold increase from the previous year, reaching a total of USD 233,704. The primary markets for this fruit are the Netherlands, Germany, and Spain. The fruit, cultivated by small producers across Peru, is gaining popularity due to its nutritional benefits. The Association of Exporters (ADEX) highlights the need for training these producers in good agricultural practices and commercial intelligence to boost productivity and access more markets.
