On July 17, 48 thousand tons of Russian wheat, the first of its kind, was shipped to Mexico from Baltic Sea ports for the first time, following confirmation from the St. Petersburg branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Grain Quality Assessment Center” that it met Mexican import standards. The grain, which made up half of the 644 thousand tons exported from the Leningrad region's ports in the first half of 2024, was fumigated and had a gas-air mixture recirculation system installed. In addition to Mexico, Russia has also exported wheat to Brazil, Italy, Belgium, Mali, Turkey, Morocco, India, Jordan, Algeria, Cuba, and Tunisia.
