The harvest of greenhouse vegetables in the Russian Federation in 2023 increased by 5%

The vegetable harvest in greenhouses in Russia in 2023 increased by 5% compared to 2022 and reached 1 million 680 thousand tons. Domestic companies have become self-sufficient in growing cucumbers and champignons, Alexey Sitnikov, president of the Greenhouses of Russia association, told TASS. “In 2022, we produced 1 million 600 thousand [tons], and this year 1 million 680 thousand tons. This growth was achieved not only by increasing the area [of greenhouses], but also by increasing yields," Sitnikov said. According to him, over the past few years the supply of cucumbers and champignons in Russia has increased significantly. “6-7 years ago we had a 48% supply of cucumbers and 30% of tomatoes.
