The increase in poultry imports from Ukraine threatens the EU sector

According to AVEC, the trade organization of the European Union, the impact of the increase in poultry imports from Ukraine should be mitigated. Senior representatives of AVEC (Poultry Processors and Poultry Traders' Association) met with EU Agriculture Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski to present data supporting the application of accelerated safeguard measures on poultry meat imports from Ukraine. While AVEC reiterates its full support to the EU authorities in all measures aimed at helping Ukrainian citizens to overcome the consequences of Russian aggression, the poultry sector faces real problems as a result of the war. Gert-Jan Oplaat, president of AVEC, said: “Our organization and our members fully support the measures aimed at helping Ukrainian citizens in this terrible war.
