Italian agricultural machinery manufacturer MTS Sandei has introduced the THR1000, a machine capable of harvesting up to 110 tons of tomatoes per hour. This is reported by Profi.co.uk. In Italy, open-field grown tomatoes remain one of the key crops for the processing industry. The growing demand from producers and contractors for machines with higher productivity is pushing companies to develop equipment that allows for reduced fuel and labor costs. The THR1000 has already been called a revolution in tomato harvesting. The machine first made a splash at the Eima exhibition in November last year, where it significantly outperformed the previous flagship THR850S (up to 90 tons/hour). The new combine harvester, like its predecessor, operates with two rows, but thanks to patented technology, productivity has increased by approximately 20 tons/hour.
