The chickpea production in Huelva, Spain, is projected to see a 25% decrease from last year due to the driest spring on record with the lowest rainfall in 25 years. Despite an 11% increase in the cultivated area, the production is expected to drop from 1.1 million kilos in 2020 to between 750,000 and 850,000 kilos in 2021. The average yield is also expected to decrease from 1,900 kilos/hectare to 1,100-1,200 kilos/hectare. Despite these challenges, the quality of the production is expected to be excellent.
