The Netherlands is one of the largest meat exporters in the European Union, with a total meat export value of 8.8 billion euros. The country exports a majority of meat produced domestically to Germany, the UK, and China, and is the largest exporter of beef and veal, as well as the second largest exporter of poultry meat in the EU. The meat export industry contributes significantly to the Dutch economy, generating 8.7 billion euros in total sales in 2019 and accounting for 1.1% of the country's GDP. However, Dutch meat exports rely on imports of live animals, meat, and raw materials for animal feed.
