The agricultural organization Asaja Córdoba has reported that the olive oil campaign in Córdoba in October was 5,372 tonnes, an increase of 1,000 tonnes from the previous year. With an estimated 8-10% of the total harvested, the campaign is expected to become widespread in November. The production in Spain was slightly lower than last year, but estimates suggest a significant increase in production compared to the previous campaigns, assuming favorable weather conditions. However, production in countries like Greece, Italy, and Morocco is expected to be lower, leading to an estimated global production of approximately 2.8-3 million tonnes, a 10-20% increase from last year. Asaja is hopeful that the recent drop in olive oil prices will be reflected on store shelves to benefit consumers, as production costs have significantly increased in recent years.
