The potato harvest in the 2025 season in Ukraine is 50% higher than last year – Potato Institute

In Ukraine, during the 2025 season, the area under potato cultivation increased by 25% compared to the previous year, due to favorable weather conditions, the yield was also higher by a quarter, thus it can be considered that the harvest of the second bread of Ukrainians is 50% higher than last year's, reported the director of the Institute of Potato Farming, Mykola Furdyha. "It is very simple to calculate how much we produce potatoes. If the average exit price from farms is 8 UAH/kg, and last year it was 20 UAH/kg, then we have, I think, 50% more production: the production areas have expanded by 25% and the yield due to weather conditions has increased by 25%," he said at the conference "The State of Development of the Potato Industry and the Potential of the Processing Enterprise in Volyn."
