Vietnam: The price of desiccated coconut in Tra Vinh has continuously increased for 2 months

Coconut growers in Tra Vinh, Vietnam are experiencing a surge in the price of dried coconuts, with traders buying them at 110,000 VND/dozen, a significant increase of 30,000 VND/dozen from the previous months. This has resulted in substantial income for farmers, with one family earning nearly 10 million VND from selling 1,200 fruits. The demand for coconuts is high due to the need for large supplies to make confectionery for the Lunar New Year and as raw materials for businesses collecting them for production. Tra Vinh, which has the second largest coconut growing area in the country, is focusing on solutions to modernize and improve the efficiency of coconut farming, including linking production and consumption, cultivating organically, and promoting advanced farming methods. The department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tra Vinh province is also encouraging farmers to access market information, improve capacity, and share learning and experience to stabilize production and increase the value chain of coconut products.
