In response to an address on this matter by the Podlaskie Agricultural Chamber (PIR), the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MRiRW) assures that it recognizes the significant scale of the problem related to the management of waste generated in agricultural holdings, including films, silage films, nets, strings, or "big bag" sacks. "Currently, there are no environmentally friendly materials on the market that could replace tunnel and protective films. However, biodegradable PLA films, made from lactic acid, and biodegradable non-woven fabrics made from sheep's wool used in vegetable and other horticultural crops for weed control are widely available on the market," the ministry indicates.
