The most authoritative industry German analytical publication Oil World (ISTA MIELKE GMBH) has noted a sharp decline in the total volumes of oilseed processing in the European Union. A sunflower supply deficit, due to the delayed harvesting of the new crop and low reserves, was a major factor in reducing processing against the backdrop of increased demand for soy and rapeseed. The total volume of soy, rapeseed, and sunflower processing during the period July-September eroded to 11.85 million tons, 2% less than the previous year. During the same period, the processing of soy and rapeseed demonstrated a slight increase (to 3.5 and 6.62 million tons respectively), but this was completely offset by the collapse in sunflower seed processing to 1.74 million tons, compared to 2.02 million tons in July-September 2024/25.
