Minister Jesús Julio Carnero visited a hop farm in Gavilanes de Órbigo, León, highlighting that the region contains 95% of Spain's hop production. With 250 farms and 541 hectares dedicated to the crop, the current harvest is expected to yield around 940 tons, surpassing 2020's figures. A $10 million budget will be allocated for the modernization of irrigation, creating economic activity and attracting more young people to agriculture. The Instituto Tecnológico Agrario de Castila y León is also working to find hop varieties better suited to the region.
