The Fisheries Economics Research Institute of the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives predicted in the '2026 Fisheries Economy Outlook' released two days ago that the production volume of coastal and marine fisheries this year will be around 874,000 tons, a somewhat lower level compared to last year. On the other hand, the production volume of seaweed farming is expected to increase slightly compared to last year, and the total production volume of aquatic products this year is also expected to decrease slightly compared to last year, reaching around 3.84 million tons. The consumption volume of aquatic products is also predicted to decrease compared to last year. Domestic consumption of aquatic products decreased from 4.61 million tons in 2015 to 4.51 million tons in 2024.
