The Llauradora Union reports that the rains of recent days, accompanied by hail in some cases, have already caused losses in an urgent first estimate, and pending further assessment of damages or the possible evolution of the crops, of around 3 million euros. The area of impact is about 23,000 hectares of crops, mainly located in the regions of Ribera Alta, Ribera Baixa, l'Horta Sud, la Safor, la Vall d'Albaida, and la Costera in the province of Valencia and in the Marina Alta of the province of Alicante. The crops with the most losses are the citrus fruits pending collection -both oranges and tangerines-, persimmons, and vegetables, especially potatoes. In the citrus fruits, there is an impact due to the hail and also from scale and sooty mold due to the excess humidity. To this must be added the increase in costs to treat the fungi since a fungicide treatment will have to be done when this episode of rains ends.
