(Jeonju=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Jin-bang = The Rural Development Administration has launched a webpage that allows easy online access to guidelines for the safe use of pesticides on exported agricultural products, making it public on the 27th.
The newly released pesticide safety guidelines cover 30 agricultural products from 13 export countries.
The Rural Development Administration previously provided related information in booklets, but has now created a webpage to enable exporters and agricultural producers to easily and quickly access necessary information on-site.
The digital pesticide safety guidelines for exported agricultural products feature a customized search function by country and crop.
Users can select the target export country and exported agricultural product from the search screen, then click search to immediately view related information such as the purpose, applicable pests and diseases, and item names of pesticides that can be used on the exported agricultural products. Direct input into the search box is also possible.
Moreover, a mobile-optimized screen has been implemented to allow easy access to related information via smartphones.
In particular, if the residue tolerance standard of the target export country is lower than that of South Korea, it is displayed in red to help farmers check safety standards in advance when using pesticides and prevent export non-compliance.
The pesticide safety guidelines can be accessed on the agricultural technology portal "Nongsaro" (nongsaro.go.kr).
Choi Dal-soon, Director of the Residue Chemical Evaluation Division at the Rural Development Administration, said, "This webpage allows agricultural producers to easily check the safety standards for pesticides on target export crops via their smartphones or personal computers," and added, "We expect it to contribute to raising the safety management level of exported agricultural products by one notch."
