The Senate Chamber approved this Monday, in a special session and unanimously, the extension of the unemployment insurance for workers of the meatpacking plants Rondatel, Lorsinal, and Somicar, in a sign of political support for the situation facing the meatpacking industry in various parts of the country. The draft laws were sent by the Executive Branch last December 17 and had already been approved by the Chamber of Deputies, although in that sphere they had the votes against them from Identidad Soberana (IS) and Cabildo Abierto (CA). In the Senate, however, the vote was unanimous. The extension of the subsidy will be extended until December 31, 2025 for the workers of Rondatel and Lorsinal, while in the case of Somicar the benefit will be extended until November 30.
