These days, the London-based analytical agency ASAP Agri warned its subscribers of another deterioration in the prospects for sunflower production in Ukraine. This time, the forecast for 2025/26 has been reduced by 600 thousand tons, from 12 million tons to 11.4 million tons, which will be the lowest level in 10 years. ASAP Agri commented that the adjustment is due to both the weaker yields in the main regions for the production of the oilseed crop and the delay in the harvesting of the new crop due to unfavorable weather. According to official statistics, as of the end of last week, Ukrainian farmers have harvested sunflower from about 3.02 million hectares or 59% of the areas, producing 5.54 million tons of sunflower seeds, with an average yield of 1.83 tons per hectare.
