In 2020, the mutual food trade between Russia and Azerbaijan grew by 6% to $1.3 billion, marking a nearly 1.5 times increase over five years. Russia was one of the top ten suppliers of agricultural goods to Azerbaijan, with its exports to the country rising by 12% to $698 million. The two countries met to discuss further development in the agricultural sector and to address issues such as expanding trade in agricultural products, veterinary and phytosanitary supervision, investment projects, and plant variety registration and testing. The meeting also focused on ensuring the safety of supplies of tomatoes and apples from Azerbaijan.
