The Ukrainian wanted to bring caviar worth PLN 200,000 to Poland

Nearly 120 kg of black caviar from the endangered Siberian sturgeon was stopped at the border in Hrebenne (Lublin Voivodeship) by officers of the Customs and Tax Service (KAS). Officers of the National Tax Administration conducted a detailed search of the passenger car in which a resident of Ukraine was traveling to Poland. The vehicle contained nearly 300 jars and metal cans with caviar, containing a total of 117.5 kg of the black delicacy. “The traveler reported the goods at customs control and wanted to clear them, but it turned out that he did not have CITES permits to legally transport caviar across the border. Therefore, in accordance with the regulations, the officers had to stop the goods," says KAS Lublin.
