The United States has for the first time recognized that seafood exported from India meets the standards of the U.S. Marine Mammal Protection Act.

The U.S. side confirmed that all regulatory measures for India's export fisheries are "comparable" to the U.S. system, and recognized its enforcement effectiveness in preventing accidental harm to marine mammals, mandatory license management, and monitoring reports.
