The US rejected 17 Peruvian shipments from January to August 2021, with the majority of rejections due to labeling inaccuracies and safety concerns. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is the main agency responsible for these rejections. On the other hand, the European Union reported 1,720 rejections of various food products from January to August 2021, with the majority being fruits and vegetables. The reasons for rejection included pests, use of pesticides, and presence of ethylene oxide in seeds, as well as salmonella in poultry meats.
