Vietnam has experienced a significant surge in seafood exports in the first quarter of 2022, with a 46% increase compared to the previous quarter and a 45% increase compared to the same period in 2021, generating over 2.5 billion USD in revenue. The exports were dominated by shrimp and pangasius, contributing 38% and 26% of the total value, respectively. Other exports included tuna, krill, and other marine fish. Despite a decrease in exports to Russia, there was substantial growth in other markets. The average price of seafood exports also increased, aiding in the revenue growth. The United States continues to be the largest market for Vietnam's seafood exports, with the European Union (EU) showing promising potential due to recovered demand and tariff advantages from the EVFTA Agreement.
