In the Volga Federal District, the country's highest volume of butter production (31.7%) and drinking milk (29.2%) is observed. In 2025, as in the past, Russia is seeing a slight growth in raw milk production. According to Rosstat, for the three quarters (January–September), the gross milk yield in the country reached 26.2 million tonnes (excluding data from new regions) – this is 0.3% more than a year ago. Agricultural organizations continue to provide the main increase in the indicator – they increased production by 3.4% to 16.2 million tonnes. Milk production by small agribusiness entities is still lagging behind last year's level: household farms produced 7.9 million tonnes, and peasant (farmer) farms and individual entrepreneurs produced 2.1 million tonnes.
