Egypt is projected to have a higher wheat crop in 2024-25 due to increased acreage and higher yields, with an estimated harvest of 9.2 million tons. The government's high purchase prices and foreign exchange inflows have encouraged farmers to sow more wheat, leading to increased imports estimated at 12.5 million tons. Egypt, a key supplier of wheat flour, has expanded its flour exports to Africa and the Middle East, especially due to crises in the region. From January to May, wheat flour exports increased by 250% compared to the previous year.
