The Spanish Wine Federation (FEV) has celebrated the provisional agreement of the package of measures to respond to the challenges of the wine sector that was approved last Thursday by the Council of the European Union and has requested that it be taken into account in the negotiations of the future Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). The winery association sees with "special interest" the agreed measures oriented towards the market and the improvement of sectoral competitiveness in matters such as labeling, promotion, and wine tourism and has highlighted one of the most significant advances which is "the reinforcement in funding and the possibility of extending the time limit in the promotional plans of the wineries". For his part, the director general of the FEV, José Luis Benítez, has pointed out that this package "represents an explicit recognition of the socioeconomic importance of the sector in Europe and in Spain" and "should be the first step to ensure that the future CAP ...
