Never before seen new opportunities in crop production are brought by the revolutionary solution of university researchers, which only brings benefits. These weeks, autumn wheat is being sown in Hungary, which is slowly reclaiming its rightful place in the domestic crop structure. While the area of corn has shrunk to below 900 thousand hectares, our most important bread grain is still being planted on nearly 1 million hectares (in 2025 it was cultivated on 975 thousand hectares). The advantages of autumn-sown crops are obvious if we approach the issue from the side of increasingly extreme weather conditions – and especially the increasingly frequent droughts. We use 1 million tons of wheat annually for flour production (for human food), while even more is used for feed production. Compared to the increasingly frequent high-toxin corn, feed wheat is clearly advantageous. Few would think that wheat production is also a central issue in a northern country like Denmark.
