Sheep pox, a disease that was eradicated in Spain for 50 years, has re-emerged, leading to the slaughter of over 17,000 animals and the isolation of nine infected areas. The disease, which affects sheep and goats but not humans, has disrupted meat and milk production. The Ministry of Agriculture has implemented Slaughter measures, cleaning, and displacement of carcasses, along with a protection and surveillance zone. The disease was first detected in Granada and spread to Cuenca, prompting stricter measures. The ministry is working to prevent the spread to other municipalities or countries.
