Mexico's meat exports, including beef, pork, and chicken, decreased by 11.2%, leading to an overall drop of 8.9% in value in total protein shipments, amounting to 478,500 tons for a total foreign exchange of 2,726.5 million dollars. In contrast, imports of these same proteins grew by 6.7% in tonnage and 7.5% in value, resulting in a trade balance deficit of 2,727.3 million dollars. Bovine farming saw a reduction in beef shipments and an increase in beef purchases, contributing to a trade surplus in Mexico's beef trade balance of 1,472 million dollars.
Pork exports from Mexico fell by 9.8% in total weight and 13% in value, with China as the destination for only 1,749 tons. Chicken exports decreased by 47.3% in exports, with an average price of 1,134 dollars per ton and a 60.3% reduction in total income. Imports of chicken saw a 10% increase, with an average price of 1,238 dollars per ton, representing a 3.1% decrease in total value.
