Kazakhstan has started a new marketing year with large grain stocks from the old harvest, housing 6.4 million tons of food grain and 1.8 million tons of grain and legumes. The bulk of these grains are in the Kostanay and North Kazakhstan regions. However, a report by the Research Bureau raises concerns about the final reserves of wheat, which is crucial for both domestic consumption and export, with the supply being over 20 million tons and only 5 million tons needed for domestic use.
