World pepper prices on April 19, 2023, saw a decline in Indonesia but remained stable in other countries. In Indonesia, the price of Lampung black pepper and Muntok white pepper decreased by 0.56% and 0.55% respectively. Meanwhile, Malaysia's Kuching ASTA black and white pepper prices remained stable. In Vietnam, the export price of black and white pepper also remained the same. The domestic pepper price in Vietnam continued to move sideways, with the highest price being 66,000 VND/kg. The economic crisis has led pepper importing countries to limit their purchases, driving domestic pepper prices down. Domestic enterprises are exploring niche markets to avoid dependence on leading pepper import markets. The first quarter of 2023 saw an increase in exports to markets like China, Iran, Türkiye, Egypt, and Senegal, while imports from the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and India decreased.
